Design Process

1 Onboarding

Welcome! I like to create a trusting relationship with my clientele. We will work together to make your project come to life. This truly is a collaboration.

Developing A Contract
Scope of WorkYour dedication to a project is a commitment. To ensure our time is used best, I will create a contract that entails a detailed scope of the project with the deliverables we agree upon.

Hourly vs. Project Rate
We will establish an hourly or project rate depending on the project at hand. One-off projects like illustrations, and graphics may be at a project rate while extended projects like website design would be on an hourly rate to consider continued assistance and use. Please contact me via email to discuss any rates.

Payment for work entailed under the contract must be paid at an agreed upon time period with client and is accessible through an online PayPal invoice.

Project Timeline
What does your deadline look like? We will agree upon benchmarks in time to discuss or revise through the design process. I recommend a weekly or bi-weekly discussion time for progress checks on longer projects.

*A contract with me is subject to change and can be amended upon agreement with the client. Please let me know if you would like an NDA for your project. I would love to share your project on my portfolio and with others!

2 Information Audit

If we work together you can expect a mix of 1:1 meetings to forms requesting information to best develop your project. Every project is a bit different, and may require more or less interaction depending on the project.

I am interested in telling your story the right way, the first time. That means I will need to know more about what you would like to accomplish, inspirations you are pulling from and an end-goal in mind.

Designing your project isn’t just about how it looks, but about how it functions. I will host a work-session discussing how we can best create a system to achieve your goals. In some cases, it may become necessary to safe-keep log-in and payment information for web development.

From this work session, I will develop mood-boards to begin understanding your look and feel for you. This will stem from real-world examples, competitors, and my own contextual inspirations. Let’s think (at least) 5 years into the future!

Once we find a look and feel that fits your project, I will begin to design with you at a deeper, specific level.

3 Design

Depending on the application, I will develop multiple sketches or wireframes to let you be a part of the process. If you like what you are seeing, we will move further into a more finalized stage. If you don’t, I will draft up to three revisions past the intial sketch for your consideration.

My design instincts stem from a Swiss/International style which focuses on usability and accessbility first. This is chracterized by bold or high contrast, legible text and playful use of color. That is also paired with a a sense of experimentation and contemporary design practice. I am happy to share what those inspirations look like.

Design elements will be presented to you via PDF, Loom (video) presentations, shared images and more. If the project calls for it, I will create style books or documents to help for the projects continued use.

4 Launch

Upon the finalization of our project, I will deliver your design assets, images, fonts or systems in a package for you. I will recommend ways that you can launch your project for your intended audience and provide you with the necessary information to do so.

I am happy to help you with continued use, development and the future of your projects. If you have any questions feel free to reach out at any time and I will answer them free of charge.

If there are extended changes or revisions necessary, you may be charged an hourly rate for continued work.
